HAPPY 3rd BIRTHDAY ALISON RAY!!!Here was Alison's pink butterfly cake made by our friend Aunt Jenni.
Patiently waiting for the song to end and then the blowing can happen
Super Cheese....Very happy with herself, blew out the candles and now waiting for cake.
Once again snuggling "mybaby." She loves her sister. Wants to hold her about every hour.
Tuckered out after a day of sleeping through the birthday party.

"OHH, she is so cute," says Alison. We had our family night. Alison loves her baby sister. All she wanted to do is kiss her and hold her. It was wonderful. So far so good on the oxygen, and if all stays this way, we go home tomorrow.
Its Wednesday and we had our oxygen removed at 9am. So far we have done AWESOME!!! Its now 5pm and still oxygen free. We are working towards 24 hours without it being put back in. Also tonight is the first time Big sister Alison is going to meet Emma face to face. Emma is mobile and we get family time in the room this evening. I will post pictures of that tonight or tomorrow. Thanks for all your thoughts and well wishes and prayers. They have been wonderful.

YEAH!!!! We had an excellent night last night. This morning all of our tubes came out of our chest, and we are on very little oxygen. We are eating every 3 hours and mommy and daddy can finally hold her during feedings. Things are looking up. Thank you to all for your well wishes and positive thoughts. Keep them up. Here is a picture of Emma from Sunday. Today we are resting comfortablly in the biliblanket. We are a little jaundice, but that is OK, its a step in the right direction.

Here is Emma today. she is looking better after a scary night. We had a collapsed lung, but doctors caught it immediately and a chest tube later and the lung bounced right back. Mom and dad didn't sleep much last night, but we were able to see her this morning and things are looking up. She is on oxygen again but they are slowly decreasing the amount and she is doing it on her own. High expectations for her. She is a trooper. She is definately stronger than her mommy and daddy.
Doctor Big sister came in for a check up. She said that I looked good and baby sister was great. She has yet to really see her, but she knows she is here and is excited. Alison was very cute and sweet as doctor Alison.

Emma with her new treats.....Big sister Alison and cousin Camas each brought a stuffed animal for Emma and a pair of socks to keep her warm.
We were off the machines for most of the day today, We have a touch of oxygen though. We went to the window to see Big Sister Alison. Our face is a little swollen due to all the fluids that she has been given. We had 2 bottles today while away from the machines. Things are looking good. Late afternoon we got put back on the machines becasue we tired ourself out. Doctor is still optomistic and says she is still doing good.
Emma Lily Sutherlin was born on Thursday April 9,2009 at 10:34 am. She was put under a hood because just as we thought, she needed a little help to breathe due to mom's gestational diabetes. As of Friday mid morning we are off all machines and just being watched closely for a little longer and then she can be with us in the room. So far she is great and we are all happy. More pictures to follow.
